Climate activists are pushing bans on natural gas as well as other policies that will restrict the use of hydrocarbons. But data published last week in the Federal Register shows how regressive those policies will be. The U.S. Department of Energy expects that electricity will cost about $39 per million British thermal units (mmBtu) this year, and natural gas will cost about $11 per mmBtu. Here’s the graphic I made with the DOE data to show the price differential among residential energy sources.
